Answer:

As we examine ourselves to weed out any imperfections, one key area to look at is whether we act with respect and love for all. It is easy to say but difficult to do, since we all are brought up in families, cultures, and societies that often have built-in prejudices. We may have biases towards people of our own faith, religion or social status. If so, we tend to look down on others who are different from us.

The principle that all people deserve the same rights serves as a model for those who want to lead a spiritual and ethical life. God made all equal. There is no high and no low. Whether one is rich or poor, whether one is a wealthy CEO of a company or a poor farmer, we are all equal in the eyes of the Creator. An ethical way of living means avoid insulting or saying harsh words to anyone, regardless of his religion, nationality, or social status. If we walk the roads of life giving love and respect to all we will never hurt or injure anyone’s feelings.

For us to believe that all people are worthy of the same love and respect, we need to go within through meditation. As we meditate we see the inner light of God and hear celestial music. This journey leads us back to the Creator. At that stage of oneness with God, we truly know that the same light within us is in all other souls. We see that light in all people, irrespective of their religion, nationality, or social status. We also see the same light in all animals, birds, and all particles of creation.

The message of all saints is: Love and respect all. If we look at their lives and teachings, we find a common core; they had respect for people of all countries, cultures, religions, and backgrounds. This regard for all people is the key tenet of the spiritual path. We often tell others how important it is to love all, but do we actually live it?
