i haven't read the story yet i will try my best to answer.
god lives in the panch it means that the panch who has been selected , is selected with a trust.and while giving justice there should be no fixing.if one is the enemy of panch and in the case he has done nothing and is innocent.then the panch have to give justice to his enemy . it is nothing matter whether he has done crime or not.just like it of friend , if the panch's friend has done crime and he thinks that his friend will not give himm punishment . but this is not possible .a panch have to always give justice with the truth.therefore we can say that panch neither knows friendship and enmity.

god lives in panch is an extraordinary story. In this story title suggests it all.......gods home is the home of truth and justice ,same fact is compered with panch. Panch is a room of justice and equality where no friendship nor enmity seeks in. Alagu initial tired to support jumman but when in he sat on the chair of justice he completely changed his mind, he gave a fair and rightful answer, while in case of shamju sahu Alagu had no fault it was a total carelessness of sahu himself. So when jumman sat on the chair of justice as a panch he realized his mistake and feelings of Alagu when he was there in his place, so inspite of revenge he gave the right answer for Alagu.
