hi there,
i had the same question as you did, because people say that it is because of certain deficiencies ........i did many research and found out that it was just some marks that is caused by any previous accident which you have experienced before..........

sorry dear...if u want a more detailed answer.....this is called leukonychia or else called as milk spots, it is a white discolouration appearing on nails. it is because of the injury to the underneath the nail (the matrix) where the nail is formed....it is because your nail is not that strong.....
you can prevent this by applying essential oil which will add on the vitamin which it is missing......this is the most common reason......minor reason can be deficiency of calcium etc. so no need to worry......hope it helped .....im ready here to clear if u have any more doubt.
