Answers
Answer:
2020. By far, the most-spoken word of last year was the name of the year itself. From the impeachment of the former President of the United States in January to the Black Lives Matter rallies in August, it was an interactive year, to say the least. However, all things come with good and bad, and 2020 was no exception.
The COVID-19 pandemic that spread fear and anxiety amongst frontline healthcare workers and citizens everywhere was a unifying symbol for some. However, it also helped revive old friendships for those that reached out to former best friends and strengthened familial bonds for those that went back to live with their parents.
The Black Lives Matter movement that gained popularity after the unjust and unwarranted killing of George Floyd, Brennan Taylor and so many others was a changing moment for the United States police system. It brought death and terror in the form of rubber bullets and gas bombs to many, but it was a wake-up to even more, that realised that their voice had a say.
The most eventful year of the past century, 2020 made sure to build us up, break us down, and push us around. This made us strong, and there is nothing more hopeful than becoming strong. As Kamala Harris, the new Vice President of the United States-Elect said, “We did it, Joe. We did it.”
