No great deed goes unpunished. Endeavoring to help somebody at your own cost will either blowback and cause more mischief than anything, or will simply welcome somebody to exploit your generosity.

Pessimistic as it sounds, I talk from individual experience. Beyond any doubt this will make a gigantic effect and give uncommon favorable position.

Answer:

Explanation: It is true that good deeds always pay. I agree with this phrase, as with reference from the story, 'the happy prince', we can say that doing good works or deeds for the the welfare of others (here, for the kings subjects) does not go in vain, rather people are paid back as reward. As in the story 'the happy prince' the king and the swallow helped others and when they died they were thrown but at the same time the god summoned one of his angels to bring him 2 most precious things, and for the angel's surprise only he brought the leaden heart of the prince and the dead bird and was appreciated by the god as he said that," for the garden of Paradise this bird shall sing for ever and in my city of gold the happy prince shall praise me"
