Jamuna is paid 19 200 rupees each month.

Gopal and Jamuna are both given an increase in their monthly pay.
After the increase, they are both paid the same amount each month.

Gopal was given an increase of 8%

Work out the percentage increase that Jamuna was given.

Answer:

Gopal's new salary =20000+8%of 20000

=20000+8/100×20000

=20000+1600

=21600

This equals to the new salary of jamuna

New salary of jamuna= 19200+x%of 19200=21600

=19200+x/100×19200=21600

=19200+192x = 21600

=192x= 21600-19200

=192x=2400

x = 2400/192

x= 12.5%
