GRADE VII
STRUCTURE OF MATTER
WORKSHEET-3
1. Name an element which exists in the Free State in nature.
2. If two compounds that do not react chemically are mixed, what do we get?
3. List any 3 properties of a compound and that of a mixture.
Answers
Answer:
1. Most of the elements are found in a free state in nature. For example:water(H2O),less reactive metals like gold, silver and copper, and components of air like carbon dioxide(CO2),oxygen(O2),etc.
2. If two compounds that do not react chemically are mixed, we will simply get a mixture of compounds.
3.
1) most of the elements are found free in nature for eg
water(H2O), less reactive metals like gold, silver and copper, and components of air like carbon dioxide (Co2), oxygen (02) etc
2) If two compounds that do not react chemically are mixed we get a mixture of compounds.
3) a) The composition of mixture is variable
b) each of its components retains it's characteristics properties
c) its compounds are easily separated
a) like elements compounds have properties that allows us to identify them to learn their physical properties like colour, odour, melting point and boiling point, as well as chemical properties
