Answer:
the poem grannie is about a child who adores his granny as much as anything but when he becomes older he has to move out of her house. He remembers his grannie as a kind gentle creature who never scolded and her smile was so warm that it seemed to wrap like a shawl around him. She seemed tall and big to the young child and it looked as if she was blocking his fears. She used to praise the child lavishly when he was good. I think that the poem was written during the French Revolution because the next lines state that " years later war broke out,and I was a soldier and was wounded in France" it could be the world war too.Next the writer remembers that the hospital he was in was very close to his grannie's place so he sends her a letter. When she comes to visit him she looks very worn out and old, not like the his warm grandma at all but when she sees him the smile she shares is the same full of love and warm smile like the olden days.
