They r an exception to the property of non lustre of non-metal.....,like graphite is an exception to the property of non-electrical conduction by non metal

Graphite and iodine are non-metals but they shine:

  • The reason for the shine emitted by graphite is the reflection from the lattice structure, property of non-luster of non-metal.
  • Another feature of graphite is that it is conducive for electricity.
  • The reason for the shine of Iodine is given by its increasing atomic size which is why it is at the bottom of the groups in the periodic table.
  • The nonmetals tend to exhibit metallic characteristics as we go down in the group.
  • This can be given by examples from carbon to lead and oxygen to polonium, Diamond.
