Graphite is soft and slippery because there are only weak intermolecular forces between its layers. Graphite is agood conductor of heat and electricity. This is because, like metals, graphitecontains delocalised electrons. These electrons are free to move through the structure of the graphite.

graphite is good conductor of electricity because graphite has one free electron in each atom which acts as charge carier.
And hence current is flowing through out the graphite.
