grasslands are found where there is not enough regular rainfall to support the growth of a forest but not so little as rainfall in deserts. in the grasslands area of the world , precipitation is so erratic that drought and forest fires prevent large forest to grow. grasses can survive fire as they grow from bottom instead the top, their stems can grow again when burnt in fire, the soil in the grasslands is too thin and dry for the trees to survive... hope it helps
