Akbar is popularly known as Akbar the great. He not only built a vast empire but also made it the most powerful empire of the period. Whenever possible, Akbar used diplomacy instead of force. He tried to remove social evils and promoted literature, music, painting and architecture. Way back in the sixteenth century, Akbar realised the need to promote harmony among different religious groups. He was indeed one of the greatest rulers ever to have ruled over India.
