Group 17 elements are strong non-metals, while group 1 elements are strong metals. Explain.

group 17 elements are strong non-metal because they want only one electron to complete their octet and become stable. While group 1 elements are strong metal because they have only one electron in their outermost shell. so they can easily loss an electron to complete their octet and become stable
