A group of ants is called a colony. Also, sometimes, an army.

Ants are highly social insects such that they form colonies wherein every ant has a specific role in the colony. There are three types of ants in a colony, namely the queen, the worker ants, and the male ants.

The queen is the only ant that can lay eggs.

The male ants of course are the once that mates with the queen.

Lastly, the worker ants keeps the supplies of the colony. These are the only group of ants in the colony who do not have wings.
