Gulliver is too big as compared to Lilliputians .so he needs far more food than Lilliputians to survive

He convey his hunger to Lilliputian by actions i.e. by taking his hand near to his mouth. Lilliputian fed him by placing stairs near his mouth and then they dropped food into his mouth
