Hi ,

According to the given problem,

Quantity of nitrate = 75%

Quantity of Sulphur = 10 %

Quantity of Charcoal = ( 100 - 75 - 10 ) %

= 100 - 85

= 15 %

Amount of Charcoal = 15 % of 8kg of gun powder

= 15% × 8 kg

= ( 15 /100 ) × 8 kg

= ( 120 / 100 ) kg

= 1.2 kg

Therefore,

Amount of Charcoal in 8kg gun powder = 1.2 kg

I hope this helps you.

Amount of nitrate in gunpowder = 75%

Amount of sulphur in gunpowder = 10%

Remaining is Charcoal , So percentage of Charcoal = 100-(75+10) =(100-85) = 15%

We have to find Amount of Charcoal in 8kg of gunpowder , gunpowder has 15% Charcoal. So amount of Charcoal in 8kg gunpowder =

15% of 8

or, 15/100 × 8

or, 3/20 × 8

or, 3/5 × 2

or, 6/5

or , 1.2kg

Answer→ 8kg of gunpowder had 1.2 kg of Charcoal.
