Bond order is calculated as

1/2 { bonding -antibonding }

-Antibonding has star above the number...whereas bonding sigma don't.

If we count bonding = 8

-Antibonding = 2

Therefore.. 1/2 { 8 - 2 }

= 6/2

Bond order = 3.
