In the attached picture

area of swimming pool=10*8=80 m²

Area of rectangle ABCD =(10+1+1)*(8+1+1)

=12*10=120 m²

Thus area of pavement

=120-80=40 m²

Thus area of tiles required=40 m²

converting m² into cm²

1 m²=100*100=10000 cm²

So area of pavement=40*10000=400000 cm²

Now area of one tile

=20 cm*20 cm = 400 cm²

Thus no. of tile s require

=400000/400

=1000 tiles
