First fill the 5l can halfway. Then fill the 3l can halfway. After doing this, pour the milk in both bottles into one bottle and give it. 2.5l + 1.5l gives 4l in total.

Answer:

firstly he will fill the milk in the 5 litre container then he will pour the milk into 3 litre container half and then only 3.5 litre milk will left in 5 litre container . Then he will pour the milk in 3 litre container , (that is 1.5 because of it is half filled ) into a empty container then he will pour 3.5 litre milk into 3 litre container then 0.5 litre milk will left in the 5 litre container

then he will pour the 0.5 litre milk into the empty container that is now filled with 1.5 litre milk now it will become 2 litre

now he will take a new container and then he will pour all the 3 litre milk into to the container and and he will fill the 3 litre container with the 2 litre which is filled in in the empty container then he will again fill the 5 litre container full

now in 3 litre container only 2 litre milk is there and in 5 litre container there is 5 litre milk

now he will pour the 5 litre milk into the 3 litre container which is having only 2 litre milk, but the 3 litre container is already filled with 2 litre milk then it can only take 1 litre milk in it,

so when he will put the 5 litre milk then he will get 4 litre milk left as the 3 litre container was already filled with 2 litre milk

I hope this will help you
