1) Bismillah Khan was a legendary Indian musician of the wind instrument the Shehnai. Below is the family tree of Bismillah Khan:

Bismillah Khan was born to Dalmir Khan.

Bismillah had 6 siblings: Rasul Khan, Daoud Khan and 4 other siblings.

Bismillah Khan married Abdul Ahad Khan.

They had 10 children: Younus Ali Khan, Fakhur Nisa Baji Phoppo (born Khan) and 8 other children.

2)As a child, Bismillah Khan used to live in the ancient estate of Dumraon in Bihar. He used to go to the Bihariji temple to sing the Bhojpuri ‘Chaita’ every day, at the end of which he was awarded a big laddu by the local Maharaja. Bismillah Khan was born to a family of musicians in Bihar on 21 March 1916. His grandfather, Rasool Bux Khan was the shehnai-Nawaz of the Bhojpur King’s court and his father, Paigambar Bux, including other paternal ancestors, was a shehnai player.

3)Varanasi (Benaras) is called the land of Ustad Bismillah Khan. A music village is going to be named as ‘Bismillah Khan Sangeet gram’ in Varanasi.

EXPLANATION:

There will be a 'museum', 'training' and 'research centre' with other things. The project is initiated by 'Padma Shri Soma Ghosh', the adopted daughter of 'Ustad Bismillah Khan'.

He often played Shehnai at the Vishwanath temple, on the banks of the river Ganga. Ganga Ghat and Vishwanath temple were considered to be the landmark sites.

3) Ustaad Faiyaz Khan was a renowned classical vocalist and was impressed by Bismillah Khan's performance and said that if he would work hard like that, he would make a name in the field of music.

With the opening of the All India Radio in Lucknow in 1938 came Bismillah’s big break. He soon became an often-heard shehnai player on radio.

When India gained independence on 15 August 1947, Bismillah Khan became the first Indian to greet the nation with his shehnai.
