Here is your answer.

Area of shaded region =area of outer rectangle-area of inner rectangle.

Length of inner rectangle = 10-(2×0.5). = 10-1
=9
Breadth of inner rectangle=8-(0.5×2) = 8-1
=7

Now Area
 = (8 \times 10) - (9 \times 7) \\ = 80 - 63 \\ = 17

the \: outside \: area \: is \: = 10cm \times 8cm \\ = 80 {cm}^{2} \\ the \: inside \: area \: is \: = 0.5cm \times 0.5cm \\ = 0.25 {cm}^{2} \\ the \: shaded \: area \: is = (80 - 0.25) {cm}^{2} \\ = 79.75 {cm}^{2} HOPE IT WILL HELP YOU.
