Multiplying with x in LHS and RHS

So you get

x² - 1 = 3x

x² - 3x - 1 = 0

Now it is a quadratic equation, you may solve it for roots by using Quadratic formula.

x = [3 ± √9 - (-4)] / 2

x = [3 ± √13] /2
