(i) the dentition depends upon the type of food taken because different organisms have different feeding habits according to which they need suitable tooth type to be able to breakdown the complex food material into simpler sugar forms.
for example tigers posses sharper canines that can help them tear the flesh.
(ii) mammals are called diphyodont because it is a particular type of dentition where in after a certain age new set of tooth appear. and hence in a lifetime a mammal possesses two sets of teeth. one before milk teeth fall off (except molars) and the other after that
