Iron (Fe) is a metal and corrode by the action of air and moisture,water and a reddish brown coat is formed .The reaction is.. 3fe +4H2O >fe3o4+4H2. Iron reacts with water to form ferrsoferric oxide along with the release of Hydrogen.
