\bf{\underline{\red{QUESTION:-}}}

A stone dropped from rising balloon at a height of 300 metre above the ground and it reaches the ground in 10 seconds . find the velocity of the balloon at the instant , when the stone was dropped.

\bf{\underline{\red{ANSWER:-}}}

Let,

  • The initial velocity of balloon in upward direction be u

So,

  • The initial velocity of stone in upward direction is also u that is ᵘ1 = - u
  • Acceleration due to gravity of the stone a = g = 9.8 m/s²
  • Time taken (t) = 10 sec

\bf{\underline{\red{FORMULA:-}}}

\bf ★ \large S = ut + \frac{1}{2}× at^2

\sf → S = u_1 t + \frac{1}{2}×9.8 × 10^2

( taking downward direction to be positive )

\sf → 300 = -u (10) +\frac{1}{2}×9.8×10^2

\sf → 300 = -10u + \frac{1}{2}× 980

\sf → 300 = - 10u + 490

\sf → 10u = 490 - 300

\sf → 10u = 190

\sf → u = \frac{190}{10}

\bf → u = 19 m/sec

\bf{\underline{\red{HENCE:-}}}

  • the velocity of the balloon at the instant , when the stone was dropped is 19m /sec
