H Verbs
Exercise 18. Here is a very interesting incident from the life of the great
explorer Columbus. Underline the verbs in it:
Columbus and his sailors had been in America for
several weeks. They were surrounded by unfriendly Red
Indians, who treated them badly. Columbus thought of
a clever plan to impress them. He knew that a solar
eclipse was soon going to take place. He told the Red
Indians that God was angry with them because of
their unfriendly behaviour with him and would soon cover the sun with
darkness. The Red Indians who had no knowledge of the eclipses were
scared by this threat. Their leader said, "God is all powerful. He can do
anything. If there is no light or heat, we shall not be able to live. I think
we should do as Columbus says."
