Habitat destruction can result in a loss of biodiversity.

  • In the field of biology, a habitat can be described as a place where a particular organism resides. It comprises of all the biotic and abiotic components in that area.
  • If a habitat is destroyed, the entire food chain is disrupted as some animals cannot reside in a different habitat, some might  migrate, others might die.
  • The organisms which are not able to cope with the changes die and in this way biodiversity is lost.
