No sooner had I left the shop then remembered that I'd left my credit crd there.

Use of no sooner and than-

1) The construct is not used before to talk about something that happens immediately after something else.

2) As soon as I went outside, it started to rain.

This sentence means that it started raining as soon as I left. These two activities occur almost simultaneously. There is no real-time difference between them.

3)Reverse the word order if there is no precedence at the beginning of the sentence. So the auxiliary verb comes before the subject.

4) When I went to her, I had hardly received a call from her. (Not right after she got a call from her...)

As soon as she completed her one project, she started the next one. (=As soon as she completed one project, she started the next one.)

As soon as she ate the fish, she felt sick. (= As soon as I ate the fish, I felt sick.)
