The full name of the fourteenth century poet popularly known as Hafiz was Khawajeh Shamas al-Din Muhammad Hafiz Shirazi. He belonged to Iran and was born in one of its famous cities called Shiraz. The poems written by Hafiz have been collected into a single work known as Divan e Hafiz which has been translated by William Jones into English.
