Given:

²⁰⁹Po half life  is 102 year

To Find:

No. of particles get emitted in 1 s from Po2 mg sample

Solution:

From Law of Radioactive Decay

We know Rate of disintegration-\frac{dN}{dt}

= λN

λ= decay constant

t = time

N = No. of atom

Half life = 0.693/λ

102 = 0.693/λ

λ= 0.0067

N = 2×  10^{3} 6.023 ×10^{23} / 209

   = 0.057 × 10^{20}

put the value of λ and N in equation

No. of particle emitted = 3.8 × 10^{19}
