Answer:

1/6

Step-by-step explanation:

Concept= Fraction

Given= Word Problem

To find= The required fraction

Explanation=

We have the question as half the children in a class are girls.  One third of them are in the math club. What fraction of the total class they are?

So taking the whole class as 1.

We know that half of the strength is boys and rest girl.

Boys= 1/2 * 1 = 1/2

Girls = 1/2 * 1 = 1/2

Now there is a Math club in which it is said that one third of girls strength is a part of it.

So we get that 1/3 * girls strength = 1/3 *1/2 = 1/6

So now we get to know that 1/6 students are in Math club which are only girls.

This is 1/6 of the total class.
