half the perimeter of a rectangular garden, whose length is 4 meter more than its width, is 36 meter. find the dimensions of the garden.

half of perimeter = 36m

length + breadth = 36

let breadth be x and then length will be x+4.

x+ x+4 = 36

2x +4 = 36

2x  = 36-4

2x = 32

x = 16

Now,

breadth = width = x =16m

length = x+4 = 16+4 =20m

l +b =36
4+x+x=36
4+2x=36
2x=36-4
2x=32
x=32/2
x=16 m
hence width is 16 and length is 20m
