Given:

Half the perimeter of rectangular garden is 36.

Length is 4m more than its width.

Find:

The dimensions of rectangular garden.

Solution:

Let the length of the rectangular garden be l m.

Let the breadth of the rectangular garden be b m.

Perimeter of rectangular garden = 2(l + b)

Half the perimeter of rectangular garden is (l + b)

We have,

The length is 4m more than its width.

=> l = b + 4 ..........(i)

=> l + b = 36

=> b + 4 + b = 36 (using Eq . 1)

=> 2b + 4 = 36

=> 2b = 36 - 4

=> 2b = 32

=> b = 32/2

=> b = 16m

Putting the value of b in Eq (i).

=> l = b + 4

=> l = 16 + 4

=> l = 20m

Hence, the dimensions of rectangular garden are 20m and 16m.

I hope it will help you.

Regards.
