Apogamy is a type of plant reproduction in which sporophyte (diploid phase) is produced from the gametophyte (haploid phase) without fertilization. It occurs in some type of ferns.Apospory is the development of gametophyte directly from sporophyte without formation of spores.

• The type of reproduction in which the development of sporophyte occurs without the fusion on gametes is termed as Haploid Apogamy.  

• Haploid apogamy is refer to the development of a cell, with a pair of two similar chromosomes, into an embryo without fertilization.

• This diploid cell is present in the embryo sac of the flowering plants.
• Apogamy is different from apospory which is also a method of asexual reproduction where the development takes place directly from sporophyte.
