If you are an ethically correct person and measure your actions, words and thoughts based on moral values, then you should not be doing anything inappropriate to cause sorrow or pain to any person or animal including yourself.

Hence you will stay in a state of bliss and satisfaction for your right deeds and thus would be happy. Helping anyone in a constructive job without any expectation is a good conduct which will in return make you feel happy about the job you did.
