Hariprasad and Madhusudan started a business, investing sums in the ratio of 2 : 3. If Hariprasad had invested an additional amount of Rs. 10,000, the ratio of Hariprasad’s investment to Madhsudan’s investment would have been 3 : 2. What was the amount invested by Hariprasad?

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Let Hariprasad and Madhusdan invested the amount x and y ₹

Ratio of investment = x/y = 2/3

3x= 2y

So, x =2y/3

Additional amount of 10,000 by Hariprasad, ratio becomes , (x+10000)/y = 3/2

On simplifying this equation,

2x+20000 = 3y

2*2y/3 +20000 = 3y

3y – 4y/3 = 20000

5y/3 = 20000

y = 20000*3/5

y = 12000

Amount invested by Hariprasad is = 2*12000/3 = ₹8000
