Harsh had 10 books. He put them into 2 piles. If one pile had 2 more book
than the other, how many were in each pile?

Answer:

let the number of books in first pile be x

one pile is 2 more than the other = second has x +2

x+x+2 = 10

= 2x+2=10

2x=8 and x= 4

so in one pile there are 4 books

in the other pile they said there are two more than the first pile so,

x=2= 4+2=6

therefore, in 1 pile there are 4 and in the other there are 6
