harsh is 40 yrs lod and ritu is 60 yrs old.how many yrs ago was the ratio of their ages 3:5.

let this was x years ago.
before x years,
 \frac{40 - x}{60 - x}  =  \frac{3}{5}
on solving by cross multiplication, we get
x = 10 \:
so the answer is 10 years.
