AIR POLLUTION
Contamination of air by unwanted substances present in air is termed as air pollution.
Substances which contaminate the air are called pollutants.
It's causes:
1.Due to excessive use of CFCs.
2.Ignition/bursting of crackers.
3.Use of fuels that release to much of harmful substances (carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, carbon dioxide)
4.Over use of vehicles for even short distances.
Effects of air pollution:
1.Carbon dioxide if inhaled pass on to our blood through lungs. It mixes with haemoglobin present in our blood and forms carboxy haemoglobin, which is very suffocating complex and even can prove fatal.
2. Smoke gets mixed with fog present in sir and forms smog (smoke+fog=smog).
3.Even plants life get affected by air pollution.
4.It can even lead to acid rain by the following reasons:
- Acids present in air gets mixed with moisture present there, and whenever rainfall takes place it mixes with it to form acid rain.
- This can have an adverse effect on monuments made up of metals.
- As metals may can react with acid rain.
- It can effect plants life too.
5.Greenhouse gases if present in large amounts can lead to global warming.
So, there's a need to use vehicles and CFCs in appropriate amount.
Then only our planet can be safe!
