Have you ever seen a blacksmith beating an iron piece? do you find a change in the shape of these pieces on beating? would you expect a similar change in wood log on beating?

No ,as iron is a metal it has a property of getting beaten into thin sheets known as malleability
But log of wood lack malleability so it cannot be beaten into thin sheets like an iron or other metals.

yes I have seen blacksmith beating an iron piece .yes after beatinghe changes shapes of iron we don't expect similar change in wood because wood act as fuel , to change the shape of iron we have to loosen to bonds of iron particles by heating it .if heat the wood it will attain its ignition temperature and it will start burning
