Answer:

I have been travelling frequently on Indian Railways for the past ten years!

I have met great people, interacted with many and had many memorable experiences at the stations and inside with my co-passengers.

But this one is the highlighter!

Swaraj express - Jammu to New Delhi, 2nd AC, Foggy winters

Swaraj express would leave Jammu at 12:00 in the afternoon and reach New Delhi at 10:00 in the night

But this time around, due to fog all around, it arrived late in the morning and because of the customary "four hour" maintenance, it was ready to leave only at 4:00 in the late afternoon

This meant I would reach New Delhi at 2:00 in the night if it ran on time!

So in my compartment were a young couple and their cute 2 year old daughter.

We started interacting soon and had loads of talks regarding college, their marriage, their purpose in Jammu and what we all were up to in our lives. Good talks, many laughs I remember!

It was somewhere in the evening when I first sounded scared of the prospects of having to go to college at 2:00 in the night.

They offered me a stay at their place which I thought was the formal words of solace people generally offer

It wasn't till we got down at the New Delhi railway station that I realised that they were not being formal.

Evaluating my options

I thought for a minute as they loaded their luggage in the cab. These were my options:

1. Travel to college

2. Stay and Sleep at station

3. Leave with them to their place

Of all these, I felt the "Option 3" to be the safest

And there I was, at their flat in Mayur Vihar, sleeping cozily in a big bed (I was not used to one :P ) and having re-assuring conversations on cell with a person who once used to care!

Next morning, I was served delicious breakfast and was given a sweet farewell!

I took their numbers and happily left for College!

Aftermath

My relatives went into hysteria over my decision. Over the next days I was given loads of advises on what all could have gone wrong!

And though my parents agreed that I judged the situation and accordingly took the call, they still never forget to remind me

"Beta, Stay aware"
