Red worms play an important role in the decomposition of garbage and converted into de-compost it is useful for the fertilization of soil.

B) Yes. Maybe a pit contains other soil microbes like earthworms, other bacteria etc., Some other species of earthworms are also present like a brandling worm and red wiggler worm.
