( \sqrt{5}  + 2)( \sqrt{5}  - 4) \\  =  \sqrt{5} . \sqrt{5}  -  \sqrt{5} .4 + 2. \sqrt{5}  - 2.4 \: distribute. \\  =  \sqrt{25}  - 4 \sqrt{5}  + 2 \sqrt{5}  - 8 \: simplify. \\   = 5 - 4 \sqrt{5}  + 2 \sqrt{5}  - 8 \\  = 5 - 8 - 4 \sqrt{5}  + 2 \sqrt{5}  \: combine \: like \: terms. \\  =  - 3 - 2 \sqrt{5}
