He is James Martin Gray.

James Martin Gray was a writer, editor and a pastor in the Reformed Episcopal Church. He was also the President Moody Bible Institute where he used to preach and teach. He did refuse  to board the Titanic on her maiden voyage as he felt duty bound to be at the institute. in this way his life was saved.
