Although he needed a new overcoat he was without gloves.

vikrantnerlekar0: In the above question contrasting statements are not used so you cannot write the sentence with although
AdishaDeo: Why? Even if he needed a new overcoat, he was without gloves. He needed a new overcoat but he didn't have money to buy gloves.
vikrantnerlekar0: The right answer should be : When he needed a new overcoat, he was without gloves.
AdishaDeo: But its not a point of time. In sentence it seems that at the point of time when he needed a overcoat he didn't have gloves. It may mean that he had lost them. But the original meaning is he needed a new overcoat but he didn't have money to buy gloves. When he couldn't buy gloves how could he buy a overcoat?

The sentence is :.

" He needed a new overcoat and he was without gloves."

Answer:

Not only he needed a new overcoat but also he was without his gloves.

In compound sentence as we know there should be use of two  verbs.

We have used two verbs. Not only, but also.

It is lined verbs, so the compound sentence requires two verbs.

AdishaDeo: In this sentence it means the price of glove is equal to the price of overcoat. But the original meaning is even when he required overcoat he never had money for gloves.
