given ratio of their present ages = 2 : 3
let the constant ratio be ' x' so now
present ages of and b are 2x , 3x
After 5 years :
_______________________________
2x + 5 : 3x + 5 = 3 : 4
2x + 5 / 3x + 5 = 3 / 4
4( 2x + 5) = 3 ( 3x + 5 )
8x + 20 = 9x + 15
20 - 15 = 9x - 8x = x
=> x = 5
present age of a = 2x = 2 × 5 = 10 year
