Question : He said, "My sister is completing the work." (Change into Indirect Speech)

Answer : He said that his sister was completing the work.

Rules :

  1. To change the direct speech into indirect one, we need to omit the inverted comma by using "that" to join Reported Verb and Reported Speech.

  2. Since the Reported Speech is in assertive sentence, the Tense only will be changed according to Reported Verb. The Reporting Verb is in Past Indefinite Tense, Reported Speech is in Present Continuous Tense and this will change into Past Continuous Tense.

  3. "My sister" will be changed into "his sister" since the speaker of the sentence is "he"- a male.
