Indirect/Reported speech refers to speech being said to a third person/reporting what happened to a third person.

Example: Lloyd said,"Is it going to rain?" (Direct)

Lloyd asked if it was going to rain. (Indirect/Reported)

In the above example, when writing in indirect/reported speech, the sentence changes according to its tense. Also, modifications regarding certain words like 'can' changes to 'could', 'this' changes to 'that', 'yesterday' changes to 'the next day' 'you' changes to 'I' and many other words will have to be made.

He says to me,"I am your servant and you are my master." (Direct)

He told me that he was my servant and I was his master. (Indirect/Reported)

Hope it helps :)
