Let a age be x and b age be y
X+ Y = 50 --------1
Five yrs ago
A age
= X-5
B age
Y- 5
A/Q
X- 5/Y-5 = 5/3
3x-15= 5y -25
3x- 5y = -10------------2
From 1 and 2
Multiply 1 by 3 and 2 by 1
3x+ 3y =1 50
3x-5y= -10
On subtracting
8y = 160
Y = 160/8
Y= 20
Therefore
X= 50-20
= 30
Therefore
A age is 30 yrs and B age is 20 yrs
X+ Y = 50 --------1
