Answer:
18
Step-by-step explanation:
Let the digit in one's place be x and the digit in ten's place be y.
Original number = 10y + x.
Number formed by reversing the digits = 10x + y.
(i)
Sum of digits of a two-digit number is 9.
x + y = 9
(ii)
Nine times the number is twice the number obtained
⇒ 9(10y + x) = 2(10x + y)
⇒ 90y + 9x = 20x + 2y
⇒ 88y - 11x = 0
⇒ 8y - x = 0
⇒ x - 8y = 0
On solving (i) & (ii) by using elimination process, we get
x + y = 9
x - 8y = 0
---------------------
9y = 9
y = 1
Substitute y = 1 in (i), we get
⇒ x + y = 9
⇒ x + 1 = 9
⇒ x = 8
∴The original number = 10y + x = 18.
Hope it helps!
